American Humane Association Red Star Animal Emergency Services Presents Disaster Sheltering for Companion Animals A two-day, interactive workshop May 4-5, 2013 The Agricenter-Edward Jones Amphitheater 7777 Walnut Grove Road Memphis, TN 38120 Class Times: 9:00am to 5:00pm Register by April 19th to receive the early bird discount! Disaster Sheltering for Companion Animals is designed to help communities of any size actively and formally prepare for disasters affecting both animals and humans. Natural or manmade disasters can strike at any time, and depending on their scope and severity, the local community needs to be equipped to handle the resulting influx of dogs, cats and other small companion animals. Topics of this intensive two-day training include: • Identifying viable locations for emergency animal shelters • Safety and security concerns • Designing and setting up and emergency shelter • Decontamination • Animal identification and record keeping • Legal issues and liability • Daily routines • Disposition of animals
