Dear friend,

Nominations for the seventh annual American Humane Hero Dog Awards®, presented by the Lois Pope LIFE Foundation, are officially open! From now until 12 noon Pacific Time on March 8, 2017 you can submit a nomination for your own hero dog and share your story with the nation.

After our judges and the public vote, eight Hero Dog Awards finalists will get to fly to Hollywood for the awards gala in September, and the show will be broadcast on Hallmark Channel later this fall! In addition, American Humane will donate $2,500 to each of the finalists’ charity partners, and an additional $5,000 will go to the winner’s charity partner.

The 2016 American Hero Dog Hooch was a French Mastiff who had been horribly abused before being rescued by his current owner Zach Skow. Now, Hooch is a loving and happy dog and together with Zach, they work with children through Hooch’s therapy dog work. Submit your own story now to share why your pup is a hero to you, and help us honor heroes on both ends of the leash!

Best wishes,
American Humane

PS – Miss the 2016 awards show? You can still watch the 2016 winners’ tribute videos now!

*Residents of the United States at least 18 years of age may submit a nomination for their dog.
